A falling gauge tells you there is a problem to investigate
Repeated pressure loss can be caused by a leak in the heating circuit, an accessible fitting or a boiler-related fault. It does not automatically establish that a pipe is leaking under the floor. Note how quickly the pressure falls and whether the behaviour changes between cold and hot operation.
Look for safe observations, not DIY dismantling
You can note visible damp around accessible radiator valves and photograph the gauge. Follow the boiler manufacturer’s user instructions and avoid repeatedly topping up without understanding a persistent issue. Do not remove boiler covers or alter safety components; gas-appliance work belongs with an appropriately Gas Safe registered professional.
Separate the systems before chasing hidden pipes
Previous boiler-service findings can help direct the investigation. Suitable circuit testing may support or challenge a concealed pipe leak. Thermal patterns can suggest routes, while other appropriate methods help refine the search. Each result needs to be considered in the system’s actual operating conditions.
Prepare a useful history
Tell us about radiator bleeding, recent servicing, new radiators and leak-sealing products. Keep any engineer reports available. The more accurate the history, the easier it is to avoid starting again from assumptions and to agree whether specialist heating-pipe leak detection is the right next step.
How Leak Seaker can help
